Roles and Responsibilities of Wedding Helpers

Wedding day is the most important day of one’s life. After you have spent the entire year planning, of course you want everything on your BIG Day to go well.

As for me, I am thankful for my helpers who helped me really alot on my wedding day. My brothers helped me in things like munching chilli in the morning, to tying my shoelaces when the banquet coordinator was briefing me about the details to helping me coordinate my wedding dinner among all helpers.

In summary, if your wedding day is coming soon, do take note of these roles (These are the roles my helpers had during our wedding day):

From now till my wedding day…I’m super short of time

One more week left and it seems like I still have tons of things to do:

1) Last Saturday, I have met up with my brothers and planned a draft for our wedding schedule…did I say draft? yes, I have edited it for about 10 times in these past two days. I will be editing it again.

2) next, I have more or less planned the guests sitting arrangement? “What? who can’t sit with who?…who MUST sit with who?…” I have been hearing remarks from my mum and it seems like I’m trying to plan my time-table in University to fit my schedule.

There are still some guests who have yet replied me if they are attending. For Singaporean, it is no “pai-seh” (not embarrasing) to check with guests if they are coming or not. However, according to Hong Kong custom, my future mother-in-law had a difficulty asking her guests. This led to our difficulty of checking who is coming.

(Remember rule number ONE !? If you want a good life as future son-in-law, NEVER confront your mother-in-law. Grooms, remember this!)

3) My fiancee is very nice to help choose the wedding songs from the song lists supplied by the hotel. She is also trying to come up with the wedding videos, montages and slide shows.

Collection of my Wedding Photos

We were very excited especially this week as we will be able to collect our wedding photos. Normally, the wedding photos are ready for collection 2 to 3 weeks before the wedding day.

What we have in the package:
1. 1 15″ Album of 28 photos
2. 1 CD of the softcopies of all the photos that are developed
3. 1 “3photos in 1″ Frame (which is to be hung on the wall)
4. 1 10″ X 12” Table-top
5. 48 pieces of 4R photos with 8 poses
6. 2 5R album of 28 photos

I have mentioned in earlier posts that we have to meet up with the staff incharge of designing and editing the wedding photos at least two times before we were completely satisfied with the results. It really takes a lot of organising, compromising of our busy schedule to squeeze out the necessary amount of time to complete various tasks.

3 BIG SURPRISES from my hotel – Part I – from Ju

BIG surprises from my hotel (less than) 3 weeks before the actual day!!!

On 15Nov, I emailed our wedding coordinator “S” on some questions.

On 16Nov, another wedding coordinator “V” emailed us and notified us that she is the NEW wedding coordinator. “S” is on unpaid leave. Our wedding is less than 3 weeks and such a big change in this crucial time are indeed shocking to us. Worst is hotel doesn’t take the intiative to inform us!!! BIG SURPRISE # 1.

On 16Nov night, I suggested a meeting date & time with her so we can finalise details.

17Nov – 18 Nov, no call or reply from her.

On 18Nov – feeling very uneasy and angry over BIG SURPRISE #1, I called the hotel and happened the Director of Business Development, “SS” answered. I requested to speak to the Director of Meetings & Events about my concerns. To my horror, SHE RESIGNED! BIG BIG SURPRISE # 2

Another Big Surprise?!!!

2 more weeks. Many months ago, the hotel had passed us this contract with the to-do list. One of the pointers was to contact the hotel coordinator (business executive to be exact) prior 2 weeks to our wedding date.

?

During this week, we had some queries about corkages and so we decided to email the coordinator. And we received the following bad news:

“Good Morning.

Let me introduce myself. My name is “V” ( Business Development Executive ) – Wedding Planner. “S” is on long unpaid leave and unable to tell when she is coming back. I am assisting “S” for your Wedding follow-up and arrangements. I am glad to assist you and Jhong Ren for your Wedding preparation. You are in a safe hand and your Wedding going to be one of the memorable one ever… …”

Another change? Oh my…this is the 2nd change of coordinator in this year since February.
