from clicnpicThe tradition of offering a specific gift on a specific anniversary is thought to have started back in the middle ages in Europe. In the beginning, the only anniversaries with special gifts were the 25th anniversary and the 50th anniversary, where silver and gold wreaths were given by the husband to the wife – silver on the 25th and gold on the 50th.
I bet not that many couples made it to their 50th anniversary in the middle ages as life expectancy wasn’t all that long. Making it to the 50th was probably cause for greater celebration than even today!
Eventually, gifts were associated with the 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 50th and 75th anniversaries, and in 1937 the American National Retail Jeweler Association tied in a gift with the in-between years that previously didn’t have gifts, plus “modernized” some of the old traditional gifts.
Here is a list of the traditional/modern gifts for each anniversary:

from luckypicturesHi,
It has been a while I have last updated my wedding blog. My apology.
It has been a roller-coaster ride for my life for the past few weeks.
I am preparing myself to be a house-husband when my first child comes. So that is why I am working really hard to set up my home business.
Being a husband and a bread-winner, it has never been easy. In Asian context, a man “must” have a successful career to be termed as “successful”.
Hardly anyone around us knows the meaning of “house husband”. Most have never heard it before. lol.
At this point in my time, the feelings for this big transition is kinda of confusing. On one hand, I am having my dream job and to me, it is never a job. It is fun!
While building up my own online business, it has been fun too and I am still enjoying it.
I know many of you are preparing your wedding and money drains out of your pocket like nobody’s business. And one of the fastest ways to make more money to your bank account is to start your own business.
(When I say “fastest”, I do not mean like within a day or two. It may takes months to build the business and stabilise it so that it is profitable.)
Anyway, here are 5 tips you can easily follow if you want to work from home so that you can spend more time with your family.

Soon after your wedding, the natural stage to go into is family planning. If you are pregnant, there is another 9 months to prepare yourself and your home for the new addition to your family.
There are a number of things that you should buy in advance which are either necessary or could just make your life easier when you return home after birth.
Just like in a wedidng, you will be spending another big boom preparing for the new arrival of your baby.
I have been looking around for different baby prams.
Some are light and convenient to be brought around while others are heavy and bulky, though sturdy.
If you think that wedding planning is tough and have many things to be done, you have yet to see your to-do lists for your new born.

Recently, I read an article on house husbands, fathers who witness their babies every first.
These fathers took up the unconventional role of stay-home papa while their wives are out in the commercial world working.
It somehow is really strange. The more I want to be a house-husband, the more I see of such news about modern fathers staying at home to look after their little ones once after they are born.
How sweet!
Being a house husband is not easy. There are many mothering roles to be done from feeding the child to buying baby shoes for them, especially personalized baby shoes if you are willing to spend more.
I know nowadays mothers, especially the working moms, do not really fair well in how to take care of their babies.
But it is never too late to learn to take care of our young ones. We all need to start somewhere.
