1) Can you give me an introduction of yourself, when and how did you start out and what is your wedding site about?

I’m Jinghong and my company is Aspire Studio. Aspire Studio is registered with ACRA since 2003 for the purpose of providing quality photography and videography services to wedding couples.

I started out when I was in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where I was trained to draw and got a chance to learn photography, its where I got started. But it was until years later when I was roped into my friend’s video company and realised that I needed to start out on my own to pursue my dream and do what I wanted. Thus, I striked out on my own and started Aspire Studio.

My webby is an extension of the work I do with my artistic direction. It is also a presentation of my work to the world.

I had the chance to interview one of the photographers of Image Garden Photography and his name is Teck Meng.

1) Can you give me an introduction of yourself, when and how did you start out and what is your wedding site about?

In 1998, the designer of a bridal shop chanced upon Teck Meng’s portfolio and unique style so captured the designer’s eye that was engaged to conceptualize their bridal advertising campaign. That’s how Image Garden started from shooting commercial photography to bridal. The aim of our wedding site is to provide getting married wedding couple an online wedding portfolio of couple’s in different venues and themes.

Wedding photos, beside videos are the only for us to feel the thrill and excitement of a wedding, by not being there.

They serve as doumentations of the exact happenings with the emotions and expressions. In the past, wedding photographers are only seen as a job and there is not much importance.

Now, they are given more recognition and respect, not just in the photos they took but also in the unique photography skills each of them possesses.

I was given the heavy responsiblity of being my cousin’s “professional” wedding photographer on her big day.

Armed with only a Sony T100 (luckily not a pink Sony Camera) and my Canon S1 digital camera (the latest one is Canon digital Powershot S3, I will be the wedding photographer for the whole day.

Oh my! Now I’m super-stressed.

My cousin’s wedding is going to be in December 07 and I really look forward to her big wedding day.

I heard that she will be getting some more friends to help her take photographs and I certainly hope that they can be better, if not the best wedding photographers she can find.

I have never felt so stressful about taking wedding day photographs.

I remembered during my own wedding planning, it was stressful to find the right wedding photographer. So now when I come to think of it again, I wonder if I am up to the mark to help take photos for my cousin.

I did take some photos for her during her solemnisation. It was fun snapping away.

Cool! I’m going to be one-day wedding photographer!

I’m sure it will certainly be fun and exciting to capture different shots from different angles, just like a photojournalistic wedding photographer.

Before the invention of video camera, men only have normal photo-taking cameras to capture the wonderful moments of life.

Even with the invention of video cameras, I realised that we seldom watch the wedding video. Guests easily get bored with lengthy or poorly produced wedding videos.

However, interestingly you realised that people love flipping through wedding albums and the wedding photographs are the ones which help to tell the wedding stories of the wedding couples even though they were just still shots of that particular moment.

This is exactly what I look for from the work of a real wedding photographer.

Again, everyone of us has different preference and it will be wise to choose the photographer of the style that you like.

At styleweddings.sg, I found the site of “Gabriel Mendes Photography”. I contacted the photographer, Gabriel who was very kind to share with us some of his best photos.

One thing in his “About Me” page in his blog caught my attention.

It says “My style is all about capturing the fun and romance in an unique, exciting way ? isn?t what a wedding should be all about?”

I myself take photos too and I enjoyed capturing moments of life. This should be what you may probably be looking for in your wedding photographer, someone who loves doing what he does and at the same time, having fun.

With fun and passion, the photographer will produce very good work.
