Our Hello Kitty Wedding in Hong Kong, if there is one

I was wondering if we ever had our wedding in Hong Kong, what it would be like?

Would it be like a fairy-tale wedding which made my wife’s friend look like a Korean super star?

Would we be getting at least 4 sets of different gowns and attire?

My wife was born in Hong Kong and I’m proud of our marriage and my wife.

I think it was never easy for her to adapt to Singapore’s wedding custom and there were many times we were squeezed in between two cultures.

Cantonese are very stringent in following their wedding customs. Luckily, we were able to come to a compromise that we were to stick to Singapore’s wedding custom and if possible, give some leeways to the Hong Kong wedding customs when appropriate.

I was just thinking what if our wedding was really in Hong Kong.

How would our wedding preparation be like? Maybe our wedding photoshoots style may turn out differently, following the Hong Kong wedding photographer style.

Chinese Wedding Bedside Lamps

As Featured On Ezine Articles

According to Chinese Wedding custom, a pair of Chinese candles have to be placed by the newly-wed bed.

The candles symbolise a long, enlightened life for the couple.

The candles can be replaced with bedside lamps. As time changes, such lamps have been replaced with battery-operated lamps with modernised motifs, scented candles and even votive lamps.

Personally, I feel such Chinese beliefs of having physical items to bring blessings to the marriage life can only means as much what it meant.

Meaning that, if newly-wed couples want a long, enlightened life for themselves, they have to work hard, no less than how much work they had placed into planning their wedding.

So how can newly-wed couples have a long, enlightened marriage life?

There are a few things you can do:
1. Both of you could take turns to join courses of their interests.

Let’s say the wife likes bakery class but the husband doesn’t. They may want to take part in the first year of their marriage. Then, they can join wushu class that the husband has interest. The cycle repeats again in the following year.

2. Weekly dating must carry on.

Set aside a day completely just the two of you. Go out to catch a movie or have a meal at your favourite restaurant. It doesn’t matter what both of you do. What matter most is do it together.

3. Take some time out of eac day to hear about each other’s day.

There is so much happening each day of our lives and we want to share with our love ones. The stories may not always end with happy endings. That is not realistic.

Wedding in Hong Kong

As Featured On Ezine Articles

Last year, one of my wife’s friends got married. Her wedding was in Hong Kong and another one in Canada.

She stays in Hong Kong and when she sent us her wedding photos, my head got blown off and I was speechless.

Can you imagine looking at phots of Cinderella or Snow White in their wedding photos?

Can you imagine fairies flying around and sprinkling some magic dust on you so that you can float too?

Her wedding photos were perfect. The feel is more towards a fairy tale theme.

In total, I think she had more than 10 gowns. In Singapore, we only had 3 gowns at most 4.

Of course there is no limit to the number of gowns you can have if your budget is bottomless.

Over there in Hong Kong, wedding photos were taken very differently. First of all, the designs of gowns in Hong Kong differs alot.

They have more designs and more themes. There are more themes, much much more. Their gowns look more of higher class and the fashion trend is more up-to date.

When I saw their wedding gowns, I got really disappointed in Sinagpore’s wedding gowns and their designs.

It makes me doubt the design of the best wedding gowns of local bridal studios.

I have heard of couples flying all the way to Hong Kong to take their wedding shots.

For those who can afford, they can order their gowns which can be delievered to Singapore.
