Wedding A Step Backward

As Featured On Ezine Articles

Wedding is a big transition in our life. Whenever our friends around us is going to get married, the news will reach many more others. Friends will tell friends. These friends will tell more friends.

I had this experience that I told my NUS classmate, who already had 3 children, that I’m getting married and he was invited.

Being married for over 20 years, he asked me this question: “Are you sure?”

I also remembered my mischievious colleague, who also had two children, drew on the staff’s movement chart on my wedding day, two weddding rings entangled and below she wrote “Wedding rings are the smallest handcuffs on earth.”

My experience was different when I told my friends who were singles. They were full of envy and especially the ladies, they will ask when is their turn, not to get married, but to find their prince.

Marriage life for me was really different from courtship and being single.

Being single, I can go whereever I want even to the extent of booking a tour the very day and flying off the enxt day. I spent my money on myself.

Being in relationship means putting my girlfriend in my mind whatever I do or whatever decision I make. Schedule had to be adjusted so that we could spend time together. A small amount of money could be spent for dating such as buying her dinner, gifts and taxi fare.

Being married means taking of my wife for eternity and taking of the house, the expenditure, the chores, the finance and many more…you name it…do you that the list is getting longer now, much longer?

Wedding Proposal…Men Must Not Get Away with It!!!

As Featured On Ezine Articles

Many times I have heard that the men just popped the question…”why not we get a house soon?”

To these guys, they are equivalent to “will you marry me?”

And many times, the ladies out there let them get away with it.

I’m talking about proposal here.

Be it Proposal to be to be his girlfriend or to be his wife…men got to understand more about ladies

So far, there were some interesting experiences that my friends shared with me.

One lady friend of mine repeated the exact words his boyfriend used when he wanted her to his girlfriend…”You be my girlfriend, ok?” and it came out of sudden at a coffeeshop.

Coffeeshop?

For other lady friends, others just just go out too often enough such that the girl may assumed that they are dating.

For instance, this friend of mine went out twice a week with this guy to places they both liked.

After 6 months, the girl grew confused whether or not this guy was serious about her.
Then, this guy started to ask her abouot her opinion of another girl that he had crush on…

Then, one month later this guy held her hand ot of sudden and walked along, assuming nothing…or assuming that she had agreed to be his girlfriend…

Oh no?!!!

I think I shouldn’t shortchange the guys who did a proper proposal…I do have some S.N.A.G friends…(they stand for sensitive new age guys)

This guy friend of mine sang a song at a pub and proposed right afetr the song. Of course, he coordinated with the pub’s boss and went earlier to practice.

During the proposal, there were about 50 other guests around…wow!!!

Another friend of mine was deployed with his 8 brothers to Changi beach to use sprinklers to creat firework effects and they were arranged in the shape of a heart…

As for me, I did an Eiffel Tower and placed the little proposal ring on top of the tower and let my then-girlfriend finds it.

No one says that wedding-planning is a smooth route. Generally, fulfilling tasks like booking the wedding venues or purchasing clothing and other wedding accessories are easy.

The challenging aspect is partnering with your love one to complete this wonderful once-in-a-lifetime task together.

There will be many times to test how much both of you support, communicate and understand each other.

There will be times when practices and customs from both families clash. There will be times when the bride and groom have to come to a compromise what they really want for their wedding, putting aside their ideal wedding in their mind? There will be times when stressors from work, family and wedding planning become too overwhelming for the couple to carry?

There may be feelings like joyfulness and pleasure when things are going well as planned. On the other hand, there may be other feelings such as anger and frustrations when couples feel that they may not be supported or understood why certain decisions have to be made because of traditional beliefs or because their parents say so.

For me, planning the wedding with my wife has its ups and downs too. Though challenging, I find it as an invaluable time to really better understand my wife and to really support her in terms of the decisions she made and the plans she had in mind.

I find it even more fulfilling when we went through the wedding day together?hand-in-hand?and living to the fullest the magical experience we had on our wedding day? >.< I really hope that this wedding-planning guide is really useful for you and I hereby wish you and your love one have a superb time of planning your wedding together.
